PT Batam Sentralindo (PT BS), the developer of Westpoint Maritime Industrial Park (WIMP) industrial estate supports the government of Indonesia and the provincial government of Riau Island to make Batam as the main investment site for oil and gas sector. Sinopec Group has leased 75 hectares area in WMIP to be developed into oil depot of 2.6 cubic meters capacity and currently, approximately 245 hectares are being developed into an oil refinery and the downstream sector including petrochemical and methanol factory by using feedstocks from Natuna’s natural gas.
