Tourism Enters Recovery Phase

Thursday, 3 September 2026

BPS recorded 8.97 million foreign tourist arrivals to Indonesia from January to July 2026 the highest volume since 2020 with July alone contributing 1.52 million visits. Tourists from Malaysia (15%), Australia (12.34%), and China (10.28%) were the top contributors, entering primarily via Ngurah Rai and Soekarno-Hatta airports. Driven by collaborative promotion efforts, this growth boosts foreign exchange and local economies, aligning with the Ministry of Tourism's target of 19.1 million foreign arrivals by 2027.
