Sixteen Companies Relocate to RI Amid Downturn

Sixteen companies have relocated to Indonesia from mainland China, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea and the United States despite a global downturn in investment as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. According to the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) they are expected to bring US$7.15 billion investment and create 68,600 jobs. The relocations came as Indonesia experienced a 5.1% yoy decline in realized foreign direct investment (FDI) to Rp301.7 trillion (US$21.6 billion) in the January-September 2020 period.
