Indonesian Hotels and Restaurants Association (PHRI) chairman Hariyadi Sukamdani, said that the average occupancy rate in the hotel businesses was projected to decline to 45% from around 50% recorded during the Christmas and New Year season last year. On the national scale, the occupancy rate may decline up to 10 percentage points compared with last year. The decline was largely due to weakening spending power among Indonesians. To address the anticipated slowdown during the year-end holidays, hotel businesses plan to offer a range of competitive deals.
