The Ministry of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi says that the construction stage of the Jakarta-Surabaya high speed train project will start in 2021 and it is currently undergoing a feasibility study. The project to be constructed by Japan will travel at the maximum speed of 160 kilometers per hour resulting in 5.5 hours of travel time between Jakarta and Surabaya.
