The Bank of Indonesia (BI) reported that national foreign debt (ULN) in May 2026 grew by 2.1% yoy to US$444.4 billion at 29.9% ratio to the GDP. Despite the slight increase from 20% in April 2026, this position is manageable. The ULN growth was mainly affected by the inflow of the international bond (SBN), reflecting investors’ confidence on well-maintained Indonesia’s economic prospects with 79% dominated by long term bonds.
